Nick practices in Family Law, Criminal Law, Local Government and Governance Law, as well as in alternative dispute resolution including collaborative divorce and mediation.
Nick was admitted to the South Australian Supreme Court and High Court of Australia in 2002. In that jurisdiction, Nick concluded thousands of cases as both Barrister and Solicitor including a number of notable appeals. Nick has acted as Special Counsel in a well known Australian firm, and also managed his own legal firm in Australia.
Nick has promoted the use of mediation and collaborative legal methods to resolve disputes between parties wherever possible, with a particular focus on reducing the destructive adversarial approach found in some family law disputes.
Many clients have welcomed the less adversarial and more cost-effective approach that Nick has brought to resolve their dispute.
Nick is a strong supporter of community organizations, volunteering on numerous boards focused on drug rehabilitation and low-income housing. Nick has also been a strong supporter and supplier of legal-aid services and has served as an elected representative in municipal government.
Nick has undertaken additional mediation training through the Justice Institute of BC, and collaborative divorce training through Seattle Collaborative Divorce Training.
