Alexa Zimmer practices in the areas of Real Estate, Wills & Estates, and Civil Litigation. She works with clients in residential and commercial real estate transactions, estate planning and administration of estates, and advocates for clients in their BC Supreme Court and Provincial Small Claims matters.
By maintaining a collaborative and engaged approach, Alexa ensures that clients understand the legal process, and feel equipped and confident to tackle their legal matters.
Alexa obtained her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Ottawa prior to completing her Juris Doctor at Thompson Rivers University, Faculty of Law in Kamloops. While in law school, she worked as an editor of the Canadian Journal of Comparative and Contemporary Law, provided legal assistance to clients of the TRU Community Legal Clinic, and received research grants to support faculty on a variety of initiatives, including a book on evidentiary privileges and a nation-wide study on Canada’s mental health and integrated courts.
Alexa has deep roots on Vancouver Island. She was raised between the Comox Valley and Cowichan Valley, has lived in Victoria, and now calls Ladysmith home alongside her husband and cats.
In her spare time, Alexa enjoys supporting local restaurants and wineries, finding hidden beaches and trails, and spending weekends exploring the Island with her friends and family.
Alexa completed her articles with Johnston Franklin Bishop and was called to the Bar in May 2020. She is a member of the Law Society of British Columbia, Canadian Bar Association and Trial Lawyers Association of British Columbia.
